  • now now!:)
this is what I was waiting for
a granular fx and THAT amount of modulation:)

    thanks Gustav & Team.

That sound and looks awesome. So many great releases*, from allover in a short span. I can't resist this. So, hard bread and instant noodles, here we go....

    Too many!

Edit: Just tried stand alone and my el.guitar straight in (no amp, no fx) and I'm surprised how much it sounds with just that as input. This one going to be a gem to build something around and with.

  • I think you should add Released: GS DSP Quantum Granulator in the header to make it clear it's a new app.

    Done :)

  • Looks amazing, instabuy!

  • gustav? instabuy

  • congrats gustav, its a weird one like always.
    great tool, thank you!

  • anyone already played with it? How does it compare to the other advanced granulator options on ios?

Well there isn't many are there? Bleass has one and it's okay but not so many options to really affect the grains. The free modal also but never understood that system. There's more but most are instruments. Something like this is premier league (imo).

  • Dang, I was just about to go visit some other forums, and almost tripped over this on my way out the door… Another $9.99
Might as well, as I already have all the other Quantums (and Magics) 😆

Yeah Fluss of course, super cool app. Can FRMSs be used as a granular plugin? I gotta try!

Spacecraft 2 - one of the great mysteries of the past few years. It keeps getting beta updates with nothing added, just updated beta to keep it alive. It's been release ready for 4-5 years it feels like.

Some of these you also need midi input (like FRMS) so it's a bit different than a pure granular fx. But yeah, how could I forget so many. Silo is cool.

Not sure about this as I've used it so little but it seem very promising. One favourite of mine of these counted is Fluss.

I added it as a plug for a synth, choose default i.e empty and then started my song. Now, I got no sound through FRMS if I didn't press the keys on the FRMS keyboard, I see the sound wave from the synth, am I doing something wrong?

@Pxlhg you can load FRMS as an AU effect/processor. And set the Waveform to Input.

I’m a huge Silo fan and this looks pretty interesting. I’m a sucker for grains… just don’t have enough bread.

Yes but pxlhg is right, you need to gate FRMS (open it with midi notes) when used as an fx for it to actually output sound

    No problemo 🙃

I think we need stop the derailing now and respect what the thread opened for: the release of Quantum Granular.
    Sorry Gustav!

  • No worries! A forum is meant for discussing things ;)

By the way the Quantum Granulator can also be controlled with MIDI input, really nice way of interacting with it.

  • this is a great remix tool.
totale different to the mentioned one.

  • Sorry it wasnt my intention to derail the attention for gsdsp. I was just wondering what magic gsdsp (as they do) have brought to the idea of a granulator. I am hoping it brings something organic in a way others dont.

Asking because there are not much demo videos yet 😁

Yes but pxlhg is right, you need to gate FRMS (open it with midi notes) when used as an fx for it to actually output sound

And the MIDI note pitch affects the pitch of the grains, and as yet I've never found a combination of settings/MIDi input note that leads to grains at the same pitch as the incoming audio.

If anyone has found a way to get grains at the same pitch as incoming audio please let me know! I haven't used FRMS for a long time as an FX because of this, but maybe it's changed since. From memory of a conversation with the dev some years ago he acknowledged this was the way it worked, and that it would require a significant rework or a v2 of the app to change it.

But the granular engine is very powerful and has many settings other similar apps don't so I'd dearly love this to be fixed.

  • edited May 5

@craftycurate If you want to get the same pitch as the incoming audio you just need to play a middle C (Note# 60). I guess that should be the same in FRMS, at least that‘s how it works usually, and that‘s also how it works with Quantum Granulator in Live MIDI Mode.
